Laboratorium Biotechnologii i Ochrony Środowiska kieruje swoją ofertę do osób, firm i jednostek naukowych realizujących projekty w zakresie biochemii i biotechnologii. Z zasobów Laboratorium PPNT można korzystać podczas samodzielnej realizacji projektów badawczo-wdrożeniowych lub zlecić wykonanie badania na zasadzie usługi. W Laboratorium wykonywane są badania na zlecenie firm w zakresie: mikrobiologii, biologii molekularnej, hodowli komórkowej in vitro, analiz chemicznych w zakresie spektroskopii mas i HPLC.

d) We try to join technical innovation with the social approach. Because Innovation is important but it is not possible without people. Only when we think that at the end of each service or product there is a person we can create the effective and familiar innovative tools and projects.

b) Kilka. Dotyczyły one oczyszczania białka rekombinowanego, opracowania nowej metody formulacji dla białaka rekombinowanego.
Opracowanie metody oznaczania ilości DNA w płynach po-fermentacyjnych.
Poszukiwanie białek z wykorzystaniem elektroforezy 2D
Oznaczanie własciwości cytotoksycznych oraz bakteriobójczych różnych substancji, peptydów, związków chemicznych, ekstraktów.
c) All my projects are innovative, because they are all based on new experiments on the plants. We are mainly creating new methods to all our projects.
d) We had 3 big projects based on environmental protection of plants from the wetlands (since 2006), and the third big project is going to begin in June 2015.
e) W Strefie Startup Gdynia w ciągu roku realizujemy ponad 100 wydarzeń. Wydaje mi się, że cała oferta Strefy jest innowacyjna. Modyfikujemy ją i poprawiamy uwzględniając przy tym potrzeby uczestników.
At Social Innovation Department we have been working on diverse innovative projects under common name “Gdynia Dialogue with citizens”
Gdynia Dialogue with citizens consists of different but coherent groups of innovative initiatives run since 2010:
1. Revitalization of the dialogue with inhabitants of Gdynia – Chylonia District. Project is running by Pomeranian Science & Technology Park together with Gdynia Municipality, Foundation of Social Changes “Kreatywni” and Municipal Centre of Social Assistance. The purpose of the project is to build positive change of the perception of this district and most of all to engage people from the area into decision making process by taking part in creating their local environment – both the change of the local infrastructure and the social change of people. The whole participation process is supposed to engage different groups of people, from kids, youngsters to elderly people.
2. “Wymiennikownia – and innovative space for cooperation aimed at youngsters”. Project is operated by Pomeranian Science & Technology Park Gdynia with Municipal Centre of Social Assistance and the range of local ngos and informal groups and volunteers. It is co-founded by the Swiss grant. It was created as the result of work within the previous project conducted with young people who started to dream about their own place – where they could spend time, learn from each other, exchange passion and energy. In cooperation with local authorities the old heating exchange building is going to be transformed into modern and innovative youth centre “Wymiennikownia”. The aim is to strengthen the integration of youth from Gdynia- Chylonia district with other young people from all Gdynia and to create the better conditions and possibilities for their future life, education and work. What is crucial in the process – young people were engaged into the whole planning activities since the very beginning and they are playing the main role in the brainstorming, operating and evaluation. For them and for all other young people from Gdynia, including young people with disabilities “Wymiennikowania” will endeavor:
· reduce social differences by providing equal opportunities for information, education and future employment,
· provide equal access to resources and equipment essential for better development of young people,
· show the opportunities and good practices to lead successful life and overcoming financial, social and psychological barriers preventing the youngsters from full participation in the society,
· promote passion and creativity independent on social status,
· increase the knowledge of young people on social problems and obstacles but also show the ways of solving them as well as promoting the healthy way of life,
· organize free innovative activities for and with active participation of the young people based on peer –to-peer education, tutoring and coaching.
3. Dialogue with different groups of Gdynia citizens to point the areas and innovative solutions to create the friendly urban space for all – GDYNIA FOR ALL. Projects are operated by Pomeranian Science & Technology Park Gdynia (Social Innovations Department) and Gdynia Design Centre) together with Gdynia Municipality – the Office for Assistance of Disabled People, ngos - the Unit for Social Innovation and Research – Shipyard and the Centre for Youth.
· Research walks for disabled people to point barriers in the urban space and to show good practices of creating appropriate and friendly environment for all.
· “Design for All” – workshops on creating the better living conditions for Gdynia citizens, especially dedicated to better participation on building common public spaces in particular districts of Gdynia (such as playgrounds, squares, parks).
· Research walks for seniors dedicated to analyze the availability of the municipal infrastructure in the center of Gdynia for elderly people. The priority of Gdynia authorities is the best adaptation and safety of public spaces to the needs of seniors. Research walks - the topic of this initiative is to encourage seniors to give their opinion regarding the public space, urban architecture-how Gdynia can improve and adapt it to be more safe and friendly to seniors and/or disabled people needs - 35 seniors, 12 volunteers and took part in the pilot project in autumn 2012 searching 3 walking routes in the centre of Gdynia (from rail station to the city Hall).
· Civil panel for seniors to engage this group of citizens to share their opinion on different aspects of their life – such as preferred channels of information and communication, active participation in civil life and local environment, the offer of different activities for seniors. Civil Panel - the agenda is divided into subjects: information (how seniors would like to be informed about the policy of Gdynia, the way of information and communication, the evaluation of the existing channels - local newspaper,web page, etc), urban space (how seniors can be involved into creating the common public space which is designed in dignity of their needs), the offer of being active (voluntary offer, workshops, seniors centres, the university for seniors) - in the pilot stage 50 seniors were taking part and 49 questionnaires were completed and the first research sample was 500 seniors (from January 2013). The idea of the panel is to make it the systematic tool for creating the opinion of seniors when every 6 months representative group of 500 to 1000 take part.
All above projects create substantial effects for the Gdynia municipality and what is the most important - build up the real dialogue with Gdynia citizens such as:
Ø Development of the civil potential in Gdynia
Ø Innovative ways of the active local democracy
Ø Decentralization of the decision making process and giving the power to local society
Ø Citizens became the real hosts of the urban space
Ø The infrastructure and the living environment in Gdynia meet the inhabitants expectations.

a) Not the project, but the equipment we wanted to buy. Bioreactor (a device that can make a plant grow quickly, which was an upscale). Told to look for different possibilities. Found one that was cheaper but more upscaling than the other ones. This lead to being innovative for the department.
b) Yes, I have created and worked up 2 innovative projects.
c) Innowacja pozwala iść do przodu. Dzięki niej możemy rozwiązywać problemy obecne i te przyszłe. W innym przypadku kręcilibyśmy się w koło w poszukiwaniu rozwiązań.
d) I’ve been presented our good practices for different audience – municipal partners, representatives of other institutions, companies, ngos, students, seniors, Polish and international partners of Gdynia.
7- Why do you think innovation is so important?
a) Progress. Not commercial progress but new knowlegde and better usage of it.
b) Systematycznie rośnie wiedza i świadomość konieczności współpracy w sferach biznesu i nauki. Kapitał firm prywatnych może być przeznaczany nap race badawczo-rozwojowe (R&D) realizowany we współpracy z uczelnią. Dynamiczny rozwój technologii i naasilająca się globalna konkurencja rynkowa wymusza innowacyjnosć. Zwiększa sie dostęp do funduszy podwyższonego ryzyka na finansowanie transferu wiedzy. Tworzą sie inicjatywy klastrowe w regionie.
c) Innovation creates new methods, techniques, roots of development.
d) Innovation is important but it is not possible without people. Only when we think that at the end of each service or product there is a person we can create the effective and familiar innovative tools and projects.
8-What was the most innovative project you have ever worked on in this center?
a) In vitro culture, its often big projects, different responsibilities. There is actually a new project coming soon, which is another specie that is endageroured and we will be cultivating it in a in vitro culture enviornment.
b) Organizacja zajeć praktycznych dla studentów i uczniów w ramach projektów dofinansowanych przez Ministerstwo Nauki I Szkolnictwa Wyższego.Wspólna realizacja ze studentami i doktorantami wybranych projektów badawczych z zakresu mikrobiologii, biologii molekularnej i hodowli roślin in vitro w Laboratorium PPNT.
c) This is ongoing project that let us introduce mosses into in vitro conditions, the method that is brand new and there are no publications and evidences that anybody else succeed.
d) Za najbardziej innowacyjny z moich pomysłów uważam cykl Miejski Service Design, w ramach którego uczestnicy pracują nad usługą poprawiającą jakość funkcjonowania w mieście. Drugi projekt to ‘Zajęcia praktycze’ cykl warsztatów dla studentów. W jego ramach studenci w interdyscyplinarnych zespołach pracują nad swoimi pomysłami.
