My 5 ressources
This were the first five organizations that were associated with the first idea for a stage i had. These were a step towards my final stage.
1- Institution universitaire de santé mentale Douglas.
This institution was initally built on July 19, in 1881, which is pretty impressive, for it was built by a group of protestant clergy. The hospital's first name was the'' Protestant Hospital for the insane''. 133 years later, the hospital is still treating the same type of patient, however, with a more addapted name and has a greater range of knowledge about the different type of mental illnesses possibles and the different approaches that should be brought depending on the patient and so on. There are multiple reasons why this institution greatly interested me, but one that really stuck out to me is the one that can be seen right under.--> Why I chose this institution: They offer multiple possibilities to the students who have just received either a master or a Ph.D in psychology or for student that are interested in this field of studies. Here are some of the fields that multiple psychologist have accepted to have students assist them in:
2- A broader view:
One thing I just had to say before even starting to talk about this organisation is the first thing that really caught my eye was the name of this organisation. Notice how its a broader view, meaning that you will have a larger and more defined view upon the world and what is really happening in the countries that aren't as advanced as we are. First of, a broader view is an organisation that permits to one to travel almost all around the world while offering different of volonteering depending on the needs associate with the country. They are located in the states right now, but make it very accessible for everyone by making it possible to communicate with them through their site and emailing. They even are willing to put up their charity number, which makes it pretty credible for me.-->Why I chose this organisation: Being more interested in the fields of study of human rights, they offer multiple trip possibilities towards South America or Africa, where the peoples rights are often broken.
3- Experiental learning international
This organization would be really great for me for starters since it has the option of going to Poland, which is actually were my parents are from! I would love to get the chance of going there, since it would teach me so much more about the way my parents have been raised and the environment they have lived in. This organisation is really great for it offers different stages in the 4 corners of the world. This organisation has been started by multiple people that have recieved not only Ph.D's in the different subjects, but as well they have received prices from different governements and so on who would like to thank them for the services they have done for the world.--> Why I thought this organisation could be interesting for someone like me: This is another program that has a different twiss to it. It does not only offer internship, its offers the possibility of becoming a volonteer in the fours corners of the world and also to become a student aboard, which is pretty cool, for it gives you the list of different school and countries that are looking for international students. here is the link towards their site for there are multiple organisations with this name: http://www.eliabroad.org/index.php/destinations/europe/poland
4- head & Hands
Head and hands is an organization that has been created in Montreal for different type of children. When I mean different, I do not only mean skin colored or the economical background, I mean they have a large group of children that are both physically and psychologically handicapped. But that isn't the thing that impressed me the most about this organisation. What really just blew me away was they offer some clinical services to the children that need them. Simply mind blowing, especially that they are a non-profit organization, so they depend very much on donators. Why I would like to join this amazing organisation: They would offer me the chance to work with different type of children, that can be both either physically or mentally diseabled, which would help me greatly when it would to choosing with which time of children I would like to work with the most after doing my bachelor in Psychology
.5- Batshaw youth and family centers
This organization actually caught my eye for a very different reason actually... They offer the more commun stuff such as tutoring to help the children make sure the ones that are having a harder time in the school have as much access to education as the ones that have a different economical situation. The reason why this organization really caught my eye was because they also give you the possibility of becoming a foster home. Often people do not have the time to involve themselves in volonteering and helping out multiple organization, but yet they still do in the way were they are taking a child under their roof to not only feed him, but to make sure he has a safe place to go to and ensure he has the best education, in the time that he will be spending with this family of course! It is super easy to get involved in this organization, and it is greatly supported by the conseil de québec d'agrément as well, which is ''an organization'' (not quit sure how to call them) that help and support multiple organization to make sure they are still up and running for still a long time to come. This way, they can offer the different services still for a while! Pretty cool, isn't it?
